My manifesto, my gift
In a recent conversation, I’ve been asked: “What really is the core of your coaching?"
Without any doubt, my answer has been: “Rediscover yourself”.
My coaching is not about changing who you are, but learning to set aside the fear-based behaviors and strategies that dominate your life, and get back the space to be you. This is really the core of my work, my manifesto and the biggest gift I want to give to my clients.
Due to the fears of not being enough, of not belonging, of not being accepted, and ultimately not being loved, we end up acting and performing instead of simply being authentically ourselves. Our lifestyle, our culture always push us to be a better version of ourselves in terms of appearance, style, status, work performance, sports performance, and so on.
A natural and healthy instinct to grow and improve turns very often into a crazy race to achieve and win for the sake of being recognized and be seen, instead of fulfilling our dreams and deep aspiration.
By disarming those fear-based mental patterns, by unmasking them, we become aware that they are not the norm and we can switch to be bravely and authentically ourselves. Also, we can always try our best, OUR BEST. And know that is enough. This is what I call active acceptance.
Early on in my coaching program, I guide my clients through an exercise called “peak experience”. The idea is to choose one moment in our life when we felt tingling with excitement, completely unpreoccupied about what others were thinking of us, completely alive and simply ourselves.
My request today is for you to find 5 minutes to close your eyes, get centered by using your breath, and find this peak moment. Try not to be too rational, just let the emotions and instinct do the work.
When you have chosen the peak experience, I want you to notice what you were feeling, what you were doing, the purpose of it, and the values you were honoring.
In addition to creating more clarity and awareness about these points, usually, the main and biggest realization and learning is that in that very special moment when you feel so full of life, when you find life is easy and “light” there is no space for fear. You are not driven by strategies created to protect you from emotional risk and pain, but you simply follow your purpose and your love for life.
To help my clients rediscover who they are, the first step is becoming aware of the distorted manifestations of fear like lack of fulfillment, jealousy, perfectionism, and hyper-achievement. By recognizing that they are not the norm, it’s possible to weaken them and give space to our real potential. This process brings more happiness and resilience and life gets fuller and easier.
What biggest gift could we get?
This is my manifesto, my purpose and I’m honored to be able to share it with you.
I’m always here for you,
Cristina
